# Scan statistics: see where your instructions are needed

> ManualPass scan statistics show how often the scan pages of your machines are viewed and documents are opened – per day, machine type, serial number and visitor language, for 7, 30 or 90 days or 12 months, with CSV export. Counting is anonymous as daily counters, without cookies, IP addresses or user profiles. Views by your own team, search engines and preview services are not counted. Machine types without any views are highlighted – a sign that the QR code is missing or hard to see.

Once the QR code is on the machine, the actual use of the digital instructions begins – so far without you knowing anything about it. Scan statistics show whether and how your customers actually use the documents at the QR code.

## What you see

- **Scan page views** per day, compared with the previous period.
- **Views via serial number:** how often the [digital nameplate](https://manualpass.eu/en/features/digital-nameplate/) of a specific unit was scanned.
- **Documents opened:** instructions for use, EU declaration of conformity and other PDFs.
- **Visitor languages:** from the browser setting – important for planning translations.
- **Per machine type:** a ranking of all machines and a detailed view per type.
- **Periods:** 7, 30 and 90 days or 12 months, export as CSV.

## What machine builders use the figures for

| Question | What the statistics show |
|---|---|
| Is the QR code on every machine? | Machine types without views are listed separately |
| Which translations are missing? | Visitor languages compared with your document languages |
| Are the instructions read? | Ratio of views to documents opened |
| Does a safety notice work? | Views after publishing a [safety notice](https://manualpass.eu/en/features/safety-notices/) |

!!! tipp "Practical tip"
If you see many views in a language for which you have no instructions, that is a clear pointer to the next translation – and a good argument in discussions with your sales team.

## Counted anonymously – no cookies

For the statistics, ManualPass stores only daily counters: machine type, date, type of view and language. There are no cookies, no IP addresses, no device IDs and no profiles. The [scan page](https://manualpass.eu/en/features/scan-page/) stays free of tracking, and nothing changes for your customers.

!!! achtung "Common misconception"
“You need Google Analytics for statistics.” To find out how often a QR code is scanned, an anonymous counter is enough. External tracking services on a page with mandatory documents raise more questions than they answer.

## Frequently asked questions

**Are the scan statistics GDPR-compliant?**
ManualPass stores only daily counters per machine type, type of view and language – no IP address, no cookies, no browser fingerprint and no user profile. No conclusions about individuals are possible, and the scan page does not need a cookie banner.

**Where does the language in the statistics come from?**
From the language setting of the browser used to open the scan page. It shows which languages your customers want to read the instructions in – a good basis for deciding which translations are worthwhile.

**Do views by my team count?**
No. Views by logged-in members of your account, search engines, link previews in messengers and monitoring services are not counted.

**Can I export the figures?**
Yes, as a CSV file with date, machine, type of view, language and count – for example for your reporting or Excel.

**Which plans include scan statistics?**
All plans, from Starter, and also during the trial.
