Live demo: what digital instructions for use look like

Scan the QR code with your phone or open the demo on your computer. A guided tour shows in six steps what your customers see after scanning.

The quickest way to understand how digital instructions for use reach the user is to open them yourself. The live demo shows the real ManualPass scan page with sample content. You see exactly what your customers would see after scanning the QR code on your machine.

What does the demo show?

The demo belongs to the fictitious Muster Maschinenbau GmbH and shows the machine type Band saw BS-400. The following sample documents are stored:

Document Languages Versions
Instructions for use German 3
Instructions for use English 2
Instructions for use French 1
EU declaration of conformity German, English 1 each
Safety information German, English 1 each
Maintenance schedule German 1

All documents carry the watermark “DEMO”. The manufacturer, machine and content are entirely fictitious. For your own machines, you can upload the same document types and other documents such as assembly instructions or declarations of incorporation.

The guided tour in six steps

When you open the demo, a short tour starts. It explains the scan page step by step:

  1. Language: The scan page detects the language of your device. Use the selection field with flags to switch the language, for example to the English or French version.
  2. Documents: All documents for the band saw are bundled on one page, sorted by document type. Every PDF can be opened, downloaded, saved and printed.
  3. Versions and checksum: The German instructions for use are available in three versions. Earlier versions remain retrievable, and each file shows its SHA-256 checksum.
  4. Paper copy request: The “Request paper copy” form shows how users order a free paper copy.
  5. Manufacturer branding with its own colour: The scan page appears in the manufacturer's corporate design, with its own brand colour.
  6. Conclusion: A summary and the way to your own scan page.

The Multilingual page explains how several language versions work together. The Scan page page describes all features of the page itself.

Practical tip

Open the demo once on your phone and once on your computer. On the phone, you experience the view of a fitter at the machine; on the computer, that of a buyer or safety officer in the office.

What does not happen in the demo

The demo is a presentation, not a working account. Therefore:

  • No saving: Entries in the “Request paper copy” form are not saved.
  • No emails: Neither a confirmation to you nor a message to a manufacturer is sent.
  • No real documents: All PDFs are samples with a watermark and are not intended for use with a real machine.

So you can try everything without any data being processed. In your own account, by contrast, the paper copy request runs in full: you and the requester receive an email, ManualPass calculates the 30-day deadline, sends a reminder seven days before it expires and informs the recipient as soon as you mark the request as sent. The Paper copy request page shows the details.

What to look out for when trying it out

The demo is a good basis for discussing your own implementation internally. Clarify these questions:

  • Languages: In which languages must your instructions be available for your target markets, and which versions do you already have as PDFs?
  • Documents: Which documents belong to your machine type alongside the instructions for use, such as the declaration of conformity, safety information or maintenance schedule?
  • Versions: Who in the team uploads new versions, and should a second person approve them before publication?
  • Paper copy requests: Who prints and sends paper copies when a customer requests them?
  • Label: Where on the machine is there room for the QR code, and which label size fits?

Your own scan page in 4 steps

After the demo, try ManualPass free of charge for 14 days, without payment details. The way to your own scan page:

  2. Create a machine type: Enter the designation; ManualPass generates the fixed QR code and the short link.
  3. Upload PDFs: Upload the instructions for use, declaration of conformity and other documents per language and publish them.
  4. Print the label: Print the QR label in 60, 85 or 120 mm or transfer the QR code as an SVG to your rating plate.
